Rides for runners, kids making a difference, signs of spring and finding a voice

Stephanie of Clemmons, NC shared this Boston Herald article about a local Boston man who used Facebook to organize rides for numerous Boston Marathon runners after Monday’s events.  “It was a chain reaction of free taxi services,” said Goetz, 37, who works for a technology startup. “But really, it’s about grace under pressure. You’ve got to put yourself in other people’s shoes and rise to the occasion…”  That’s Empathy with a capital “E”.

Kids make a difference – read here in National Geographic about how kids raised money to purchase mosquito netting to help prevent malaria in Africa.

And a sure sign of spring:  cherry blossoms in Washington, DC.  This video from CBS Sunday Morning reminds us of Mother Nature’s kindness.

Technology and healthcare advances are both full of “More Good” kind of news; it’s especially exciting when these world’s collide to bring about breakthroughs for people with health challenges.  Thanks to Bridget – my good-news-kind-of-sister – who sent this link to a story about a young girl with autism who (quite literally) found her voice thanks to the aid of technology.
